Winter Skincare Must Haves!!!

Now that it is the middle of winter I thought that I would share my favorite products that have saved my skin from becoming overly dry. I typically have dry skin so I use most of these products throughout the year but in the winter it is a necessity for me to use them religiously.

Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer

I love moisturizer and this one has become one of my all time favorites. It is a gel rather than a cream which provides more moisture because of its water-based content. My skin is extremely sensitive to citrus ingredients in products except for this one. It is cooling and lightweight but still provides deep moisture to the skin.

Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask

This mask is perfect to use before bed because I wake up with my skin feeling just as moisturized as it did the night before. It applies like a lotion and is easily layered over other skincare products. The only thing I don’t like about this mask is the smell but once you blend it into the skin it disappears.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray

Obvisously this product is amazing and it became extremely popular in 2017. I especially love it in the winter to spray on top of my makeup or skin throughout the day when it is feeling extra dry from the cold weather.

Glossier Balm Dotcom

EXTREMELY moisturizing lip balm. I love the flavor Birthday cake which adds a little bit of shimmer and actually does smell like cake.

Glossier Super Bounce

This serum is amazing to use once a day under moisturizer to provide hydration all day long. Hyaluronic Acid helps to get soften rough, tired, and dry skin which is exactly how mine feels in the winter.

Jergens Natural Glow Lotion

My tan lines fade in the winter and once again I become pale. I love to use this lotion because it provides a very natural glow and isn’t an intense orange color like most self tanners. Perfect to help moisturize the skin while also providing a natural tan.

New Year, New Me

I just have a feeling that this is going to be my year. When I think back to 2017, it was a pretty dull year for me. I have done some reflecting and now realize that I wasted the year doing very little. I don’t want to regret wasting another year and feel motivated to make some changes in my life.

I am going to eat healthier. I am not going to become vegetarian or vegan, but I am going to eat less processed foods. I find that when I want a snack I grab goldfish or something else similar to that and I want to stop this habit.

I am going to work out on the weekends. I dance everyday at school but want to be someone who exercises daily. I am not working out to loose weight; I am working out to live a healthy lifestyle and strengthen my body.

I am going to blog more. I want to post at least twice a week during the school year. I love being able to share my thoughts online and I feel inspired to post even more with the start of the new year.

I am going to work harder in school. I will be applying for college this year and I want to set myself up best for when that comes. I feel better when I know I have tried my hardest no matter what the outcome is and I feel that at the end of 2017 I began to slack off a little bit.

I wanted to post this so that in a year I can come back and see if I kept up with my resolutions. I hope that maybe this will motivate you to make some goals for the new year but if not oh well.

Favorite Makeup Products of 2017

I love trying out new makeup products and in 2017 I found some products that I absolutely LOVE.

1)L’Oreal Magic Lumi Primer-$10.38: This primer is great if you are hoping to achieve a glowy look and it is also great for dry skin because it is water-based. It is important to use primer if you are planning on wearing your makeup for multiple hours because this will prevent the products from piling up in your pores.

2)It Cosmetics CC Cream-$38: I don’t use this every time I wear makeup but I use it as a replacement for foundation. It is close to full coverage but feels extremely light on the skin. It contains spf 50, helps smooth skin, and prevent wrinkles. My skin always feels amazing when I wear this product which is important to me when I wear makeup.

3)Glossier Wowder-$22: This powder is great if you are hoping to achieve a natural makeup look. It is meant to lightly set makeup so if you have oily skin your natural oils will not be covered up. I love how light it feels and makes my under-eye concealer look flawless.

4)Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer-$14.39: I do not contour my face but I love warming up my skin with bronzer. The contents of this product are great for your skin and it smells like a tropical beach vacation. My favorite thing about this product is how it blends in effortlessly. It is also the perfect color for a natural eye shadow.

5)Glossier Cloud Paint-$18: I have started to shift to using mostly cream products. I love how natural this blush looks and how easy it is to blend. Although it comes in a small tube, it takes the smallest amount of product because of its great pigmentation.

6)L’Oreal Lash Paradise-$7.99: This is by far my favorite mascara that I have ever tried. It can be used to create a natural look or a full glam eye look. The product comes off easily and does not have any fall out.

7) Benefit Watt’s Up-$30: This is my favorite highlighter because of the color and consistency of the product. It is a golden color but also has a slight yellow tone so that it blends seamlessly into the skin. It is best applied with your fingers because the warmth of your hands melts the product and creates a glowing from within look.

Statement Belts

Free People Audrey Suede Belt- $28

I recently bought this belt in black from Free People and I am in love with it! I wear it multiple times a week because it can easily be paired with almost any outfit. I love the big circle pendant in the middle which gives a Gucci sort of style but for way cheaper. If you really want to make a statement I think the pine green color would be beautiful with an all neutral colored outfit to add a pop of color.

Lulus Sweet Melody Black and Silver Double Buckle Belt- $14

lulus silver belt

I just bought this belt from Lulus as part of their VIP Black Friday sale. Western style belts that have large buckles have become very trendy in the past year and I was so excited to see this one was on sale. The double buckles make it perfect to pair with any outfit as the main accessory. The silver buckles give it a vintage look that is also super trendy.

Must Have Skincare Favs

The past few months I have felt so inspired to keep up a good skincare routine. I have  tried so many different products and here are my favorites!

Simple Micellar Water- I didn’t think I would like Micellar water that much because I love my neutrogena makeup wipes, but I decided to finally try it. I love it so much more than makeup wipes now and this one is specific for dehydrated, sensitive skin. I also love using this after I wash my face to re-hydrate my skin.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Face Wash- I used the same face wash for 4 years so a week ago I decided to switch it up and now I am obsessed with this one! It does not irritate my skin at all and leaves my skin feeling extremely fresh and smooth.

TonyMoly Face Sheet Masks- It is important to keep your skin clean and fresh so I try to use a face mask at least once a week. These sheet masks make it so easy and simple to use a mask. There are 11 different masks to target specific areas but my favorite one is the red wine pore care mask.

Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion- Having sensitive skin makes it so hard to find moisturizers that don’t irritate my skin. I try new products but always come back to this one because it is amazing. If you have oily skin this may not be the best for you because it is a little heavier for a moisturizer, but it is perfect for dehydrated skin.

Smith’s Rosebud Salve- This is by far my favorite lip balm. It leaves my lips feeling moisturized for a long time instead of having to constantly re-apply. I love the slightly glossy look it gives which makes your lips stand out.

San Francisco Travel Diary

This summer I went to San Francisco and absolutely fell in love!!! Here are some of the highlights of my trip that I recommend if you ever get the opportunity to visit!

Alcatraz: By far this was my favorite place in all of San Francisco. The views were amazing and the history of the island was incredible! The island is home to many species of seagulls and flowers. If you visit, buy your tickets online and choose the earliest time slot because you will practically have the island to yourself.

16th Avenue Tiled Steps: These tiled steps are beautiful and the perfect place to take pictures. If you go on a clear day you can see some incredible views of the city.

Painted Ladies: How can you visit San Fran and not come to these iconic homes? They are so cute and the park offers even more incredible views of the city.

Ghirardelli Square: Home to the delicious chocolate brand, this square is just down from the Fisherman’s Wharf. The ice cream is amazing but if you don’t want to wait in the long line, go to the upstairs store that is to-go but has plenty of tables to dine in at.

Lombard Street: This famous street is a must see. If you continue walking around the area you will come across a trail that leads down to Chinatown. Along this trail are some amazing overviews of the entire city.

golden gate

Golden Gate Bridge: This bridge lives up to its reputation. I got to visit during its centennial and it was amazing. If you show up and can’t see the bridge through the fog, wait it out a couple minutes and the fog will clear out. I don’t recommend biking across the bridge because it is so crowded, but I do recommend walking part of it.

Highlight Power!!!

Highlighter has become one of the most popular trends in makeup within the past couple of years. I love highlighting my cheekbones and have tested multiple different brands and here are my favorites.

Benefit Watt’s Up: This highlighter is perfect for a natural glow. It is a cream to powder stick that is a beautiful gold shimmer. If you want a heavy highlighted look, this product is very easy to layer up.

L’oreal Paris LUMI: This was one of the first highlighters I used and it is a great product for beginners. This liquid highlighter comes in 3 different shades to better match your skin tone.

Wet n Wild Highlighting Powder: I first heard of this product on Youtube and now I am obsessed! The pigmentation is beautiful and this powder is extremely easy to apply. It’s perfect for a stronger, bolder highlight and comes in a gold shade as well as a gold-pinks shade.
